Italian Harvest Winter Sale & News
from Italian Harvest February 2009

Dear friends and customers of Italian Harvest,

We wish to thank you again for ordering more and more of our imports. We've noticed an increase in the variety and number of food items you order from us, which tells us you are loving what you usually get from us and are wanting to give new things a try.

We would like to remind you that almost everything you find on our website comes from small farming communities found in remote parts of Italy, or small factories that are known for their products. Even though foods are not certified organic, they are basically grown and packaged organically. As you continue to buy our products you are helping small farmers and factory owners from all over Italy during these economic times that are harder in Italy than we can imagine here in the United States.

For this reason we wish to help you with a 50% off sale on select items that we know are of exceptional quality.  We will be featuring some ceramics that are also selected one of a kind items. Go to the following link to find our home page: http://www.italianharvest.com/

Sincerely,

John Blount

Fusilloni (Large Fusilli) Fusilloni (Large Fusilli)
by Pastificio Marella
To keep to the Italian tradition, let's start with a serving of pasta. From the region of Puglia where historically they have grown the durum wheat necessary for the manufacturing of dry pasta, Marella makes one of the best pastas in the world.

Try our FUSILLONI, large twisted cork screws that will cook to large size without breaking up and hold any sauce. Buy a 1.1 LB pack for $3.37, down from $6.75

Calamaretti Pasta by Paese della Pasta Calamaretti Pasta
by Paese della Pasta
Another fabulous pasta that comes from Gragnano, a center for artisanal pasta in the Naples area, is the Paese della Pasta brand. This pasta is more "al dente" than Marella. We absolutely love the CALAMARETTI and they are very hard to find. Buy them here at the greatly reduced price of $4.25 down from $8.50

Tomato Sauce by Augello Tomato Sauce
by Augello
Now we need a sauce to go with the pasta. We are amazed at how absolutely delicious the Augello tomato sauces are. This farmer, his wife, and one worker from the tiny village of Caltabellotta in southern Sicily are putting their soul into the sauces they make. Given the rich sun ripened tomatoes and other Sicilian vegetables, we've chosen for you to taste their superbly flavorful SICILIANA SAUCE. Buy it here at $4.50 down from $9.00
Spaghetti Umbria by Fattoria Umbra Spaghetti Umbria
by Fattoria Umbra
Another sauce that people seem to overlook, possibly because of the name is our Umbrian SPAGHETTI UMBRIA. Chef and owner Sandro Bianchi from the small farming community of Marsciano just south of Perugia in Umbria invents zesty sauces of all kinds in a typical Umbrian tradition. The olives, eggplant and capers make it ideal for an Umbrian Spaghettata... or spaghetti feast. Ideal on any pasta, buy it here down to $4.32 from $8.65

Tarallini by Pastificio Pozzo del Re Tarallini
by Pastificio Pozzo del Re
Another absolutely fabulous product that is at times overlooked is our southern Italian, or Pugliese to be exact, TARALLINI. These crunchy "crackers" made from Pugliese durum wheat are very substantial and are an ideal accompaniment to wine, cheese, or cold cuts. Everybody tasting them says they are the best they've ever had. Buy them here down to $4.10 from the original price of $8.70

Intorchiate by Pastificio Pozzo del Re Intorchiate
by Pastificio Pozzo del Re
If you do a Google search for INTORCHIATE you'll bring up pages with websites dedicated to this wonderful Pugliese specialty cracker that features toasted almonds held in the twists of baked and sugar crusted dough. This savory delicacy is ideal with cheese, wine, and cold cuts. Buy it on our website at the greatly reduced price of $5.45 down from $10.90

Pugliese extra virgin olive oil by Franco Cuonzo Pugliese extra virgin olive oil
by Franco Cuonzo
Keeping to the land of Puglia, we would like to feature the delicious oil from the estate of Franco Cuonzo, where trees grow to be over 2000 years old. This complex oil has a slight aftertaste of almonds and is ideal with all foods including pasta, meats, seafood, vegetables, and more. Buy it here for $16.75 down from the regular price of $33.50

Red Renaissance Oil Bottle by Ceramiche Lupo D\'Agobio Red Renaissance Oil Bottle
by Ceramiche Lupo D'Agobio
From our hand painted ceramic stocks, we've chosen some beautiful pieces to let you have at greatly reduced prices.

This beautiful hand painted ceramic oil bottle from Gubbio in Umbria is available reduced to $25 from $64. Buy it here now

Angel Candlestick by Ceramiche Di. Fra. Angel Candlestick
by Ceramiche Di. Fra.
In typical Sicilian baroque decor, these angel candlestick holders are ideal for warming up the dinner table for that classic Italian meal. Made in Caltagirone, Sicily by the Di.Fra. factory, these hand painted and hand molded angels are slashed to $20 from their original price of $48.

Blue Grapes Spoon Rest by Ceramiche Gurreri Blue Grapes Spoon Rest
by Ceramiche Gurreri
Also from Sicily, this cheerful spoonrest that is one of those absolutely necessary items for people that use the kitchen is marked down to $20 from $35.

And as usual, we would like to ask you to forward our newsletter or web site URL to any of your friends and relatives, and especially any italophiles you know about. Thank you for continuing to order our fabulous products for your personal use or as unforgettable gifts to your friends and relatives!
